In 1934 she opened a private kindergarten in her home on Boundary Street in Waynesville. During the 1940s she conducted classes at Central Elementary School and then in the Education Building of the First Baptist Church. In the early 1950s she started The Methodist Kindergarten in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church. She operated this school until her retirement in 1959.
Mrs. Henderson's legacy was memorialized in a CD by Donald Davis entitled Miss Rosemary's Kindergarten which is a collection of stories about Mrs. Henderson's class. The storyteller preferred to use the younger Henderson's name.
