Abstract
William Calvin Perry (1870-1942) was a farmer, auctioneer, and antique dealer. He
served as superintendent of the Iredell County Home for about 25 years.
This single-volume account book contains some of the farming and antique business
transactions of William Calvin Perry of Troutman, in Iredell County, North Carolina.
The book includes a record of cantaloupes raised by Troutman and sold in cities and
towns in western and piedmont regions, 1922-1924 and 1926-1927. Accounts of the sale
of antiques from Perry's shop in his home from 1933-1937 and 1940 are listed also.

This account book contains on pages 4-58 a record of cantaloupes raised by Perry and sold during the summers of 1922-1924 and 1926-1927 to various hotels, groceries, city markets, cafeterias, and so forth, in cities and towns of several western and piedmont counties of North Carolina. Pages 67-189 and pages 624, 639, and 640 contain accounts of sale of antiques from Perry's shop in his home during the years from 1933 to 1937 and 1940. Items sold include crockery, glassware, brassware, lamps and light fixtures, chests, tables, desks, chairs, bedsteads, cupboards, sideboards, secretaries, frames, and a grandfather clock. Cash sales and sales on account are entered in the volume.
