She sends it to you with her love to yourself and family, she says if you do not want it you can send it back. We are all well at present write to me as soon as you get it. My love and a kiss to all. -Jennie."

Jennie and Elmira were cousins. Jennie is Eugenia Brown Wynne, daughter of Solomon J. S. Brown, brother of Henry Jerome Brown of Raleigh. Jennie addressed the letter to her uncle, Henry Jerome (H. J.) Brown. In 1836 Brown started H. J. Brown Coffin House (a funeral home). This funeral home continues to operate in Raleigh as Brown-Wynne Funeral Home and is the oldest continuously operated business in Raleigh.
Elmira Helen Powell is the daughter of Napier Wilson and Eliza Gill Brown. Eliza Gill Brown is the older sister to H. J. Brown and is one of 3 children Napier Wilson and Eliza Gill Brown had after moving to Columbia, Tennessee. Elmira Helen Wilson married Isaac Mitchell Powell in 1843 and had 12 children. Carrie Brown Powell and Laura L. Powell Guest were two of the 12 children.
