The collection of negatives contain images of the Surry Parker (1867-1942) family and business enterprises in northeastern North Carolina and southeastern Virginia, ca. 1904-1920s. There are photos of Parker's Pinetown, North Carolina logging and machinery operation in the 1910's. In addition, there are views of his business interests in Virginia, including the Surry Parker Machine Works at Norfolk. He designed and built logging machinery. Many of the images are of Parker's relatives vacationing in the Virginia Beach area. Also in the collection is a copy of a daguerreotype of Captain George Thomas Parker, the father of Surry Parker, in his Confederate uniform.

(NOTE: The Parker family's handwritten notes on the collection give added detail to many folios. The notes may be found at the end of the collection. The orginal negative album also may be found with the collection.)
