The photographs contain many views of the Saint Louis Exposition of 1904, attended by Marshall Gary and his father. Also, the collection contains views of the mountains of West Virginia, Ocean View (beach scenes), views in Halifax County, Washington, D.C., and Niagara Falls. Marshall attended St. Mary's College at Belmont (now Belmont Abbey College), North Carolina, and many of the photographs were taken at this institution or of activities associated with the college.
