Robert Linwood Maxey (1894-1963) was an official with the State Budget Bureau and a onetime superintendent of the North Carolina State Government Buildings and Grounds. Maxey, a resident of Raleigh, was not a commercial photographer, but took these photographs as an amateur.Most of the images in this collection are of Raleigh, but there are a few of Guilford Battleground, the Fayetteville Centennial Celebration, and a Duke vs. UNC football game, in Durham.

Abstract

Robert Linwood Maxey (1894-1963) was an official with the State Budget Bureau and a onetime superintendent of the North Carolina State Government Buildings and Grounds. Maxey, a resident of Raleigh, was not a commercial photographer, but took these photographs as an amateur.

Mrs. Jeanette M. Eaker, 105 Christopher Lane, Westminster, South Carolina 29693 donated the collection to the State Archives on March 8, 1999. Mrs. Eaker is the granddaughter of Mr. Maxey. They were accessioned by the archives in April, 1999.
