Arrangement Note
Collection is arranged chronologically using job and negative numbers assigned by
photographer Nick Lovin, who used the following prefixes to denote the nature of each
job:
A/B = Anniversary/Birthday
C = Commercial
CP = Copy Print
PA = Passport
PO = Portrait
W = Wedding
Job number represents the month and year in which the job was shot, followed by a
number indicating chronological order of the project. For example, "PO977-24" indicates
that the job is a portrait (PO) shot in September, 1977 (977), and was the twenty-fourth
assignment Lovin had that month (-24).
These materials are part of the Richmond County Historical Collection.
Biographical and Historical No
For many years prior to his sudden death of a heart attack at age 42 on February 9,
1985, Nick Lovin (1942-1985) was a professional photographer in Richmond County. He
continued studio and location work while employed at the as their staff photographer.On January 12, 1995, the Richmond County Historical Association purchased Nick Lovin's
collection of photographic materials from his widow, Bobby Sue. On May 18, 2010, the
Richmond County Historical Association donated the collection to the Division of Archives
and History, Archives Branch, Raleigh.

On January 12, 1995, the Richmond County Historical Association purchased Nick Lovin's
collection of photographic materials from his widow, Bobby Sue. On May 18, 2010, the
Richmond County Historical Association donated the collection to the Division of Archives
and History, Archives Branch, Raleigh.
