This collection relates to the family of Aubrey E. Rogers of Elizabeth City and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Aubrey Rogers (1925-2005) was born in Manteo, North Carolina, to Marvin and Janie Shannon Rogers. Marvin Rogers (1904-1957) was from Elizabeth City and moved to Roanoke Island in the 1920s and opened a barber shop. He married Janie Shannon (1902-1971), a native of Roanoke Island. Aubrey Rogers graduated from Oak Ridge Military Institute and attended East Carolina Teachers College and Virginia Tech. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II and in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
