Wise, who made plans to refurbish the plant with new machinery. The plant's rehabillitation took approximately 60 days and had the capacity to process 15 tons of ice daily. The site of the People's Ice and Storage Company is now home to the Outer Banks History Center and Roanoke Island Festival Park.
