Biographical/Historical
The interviews in this collection were created by employees of the National Park Service in an effort to document the history of the Cape Lookout National Seashore (often abbreviated CALO). The ultimate purpose of the project is unknown, but the information in the interviews may have been used to create interpretive displays and signage at NPS sites throughout the region. The region is historically known for its role in the Civil War and its connection to the whaling industry.
