Sand Dollar Motel Negatives, AV.5125

Abstract

For over a quarter century (1957 - 1985), Jewel Graves owned and operated the Sand Dollar Motor Court in Nags Head, oceanfront near Milepost 13.5. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Graves' long association with the American Red Cross suited her for assisting with local Red Cross teams following hurricanes and other disasters. Her philanthropy continued following her death, when the Outer Banks Community Foundation received a bequest from her estate.
