The Wilmington Ten were tried for fire bombing a grocery on February 6, 1971 in Wilmington and for conspiring to assault the firemen and police who responded to the fire. The incident occurred during a period of protests against racial discrimination and segregation. Amnesty International took up the case in 1976, and in 1980 the convictions were overturned.
