Abstract
Brockie Daniels (1912-2007) was born in Manteo, North Carolina to Edward and Mary
Wescott Daniels. She was one of five children. Daniels received her Bachelor of Arts
in English in 1935 from the Women's College of the University of North Carolina. She
was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force where she was stationed
both in the United States and in the European theatre. She remained in the Air Force
until her retirement in 1964. Daniels was also a member of Manteo Baptist Church for
more than 80 years.
The Brockie Daniels Papers consists of military records, photographs, college diplomas,
and correspondence.

Collection Overview
The Brockie Daniels Papers consist of military records, family papers, and photographs and slides. Daniels' military paperwork includes her airman's qualification card, performance reports, honorable discharge and retirement papers, and photographs that include family pictures, photos from her time in Europe during World War II, and her travels to Arizona, California, and New York.

Biographical Note
Mary Brockwell "Brockie" Daniels (1912-2007) was born in Manteo, North Carolina to Edward and Mary Wescott Daniels. She was one of five children. She received her BA in English in 1935 from the Women's College of the University of North Carolina. From 1936-1939, Daniels taught English and history in Hertford County, North Carolina. She also served as recreational director for a reform school in Hertford County and was the Hertford County supervisor of adult education. Shortly afterwards, Daniels enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Women's Air Corps in both the United states and Europe. During the war, she was sent to Paris, France as a member of the 29th Traffic Regulating Group, the group responsible for controlling and regulating traffic in the Military Railway Service, in Marine Operations and Motor Transport throughout the European Theatre. After the war, she remained in the Air Force until her retirement in 1964. Daniels was a member of Manteo Baptist Church for more than 80 years.
