Collection Overview
The Fulcher Family Papers, circa 1890s-1989, consists of family papers and photographs
related to the Fulcher and Oden/Odin families of Hatteras Island. The bulk of the
collection consists of 493 photographs taken along the Outer Banks of North Carolina,
New York City, and Natural Bridge, Virginia, largely during the 1900s-1950s. Most
of the photographs are snapshot and portraits of members of the Fulcher and Oden families,
but photographs of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and its Fresnel lens, boats and ships,
and shipwrecks are also included. Although most photos are unidentified and undated,
several photos depict men in uniform and appear to have been taken during World War
II.
