Collection Overview

The Lois P. Smith papers, 1953-2011 (bulk 2004-2011), contains papers accumulated by Smith during her work on behalf of the First Flight Society, for which she served as an officer for many years. These papers were originally kept in twelve large three-ring binders but removed for conservation purposes upon processing. Papers include meeting minutes, notes, clippings, flyers, tickets, correspondence, and other papers related to the work of the First Flight Society and the events and activities the group coordinated. The group's 2006 black and white gala fundraiser is particularly well documented. Most of the materials date from 2004 to 2011, but Smith also collected a small amount of clippings and ephemera related to earlier anniversaries of the Wright Brothers' first flight dating back to 1953. These materials are interfiled with her First Flight Society papers and have been left in their original order.

Arrangement Note

Original order has been retained.
