This collection primarily consists of materials documenting the death of D. Victor Meekins, including condolence telegrams and correspondence, resolutions, memorial tributes, and clippings. Also included are numerous photographs of D. Victor Meekins and several local postcards. These materials were compiled by Meekins' daughter, Mary Blanche Harwell.

Collection Overview
This collection primarily consists of materials documenting the death of D. Victor Meekins, including condolence telegrams and correspondence, resolutions, memorial tributes, and clippings. Also included are numerous photographs of D. Victor Meekins and several local postcards. Most of these materials were originally arranged in a scrapbook created by Harwell which became water damaged. Materials were removed from the scrapbook and newspaper clippings were photocopied onto acid-free paper at the time of donation.

Biographical/Historical
Mary Blanche Meekins was born in 1940 to Daniel Victor Meekins and Catherine Deaton Meekins. She was their third child, born after her older brothers Roger Meekins and Francis Meekins. The materials in this collection primarily focus on Mary Blanche's father, D. Victor Meekins, who was a lifelong resident of Roanoke Island, newspaper editor, sheriff, and county commissioner.
