Biographical/Historical

John J. Jacobs was born in 1941 to Dr. Paul and Dorothy May Jacobs. The family lived on the campus of the Veteran's Hospital at Oteen, where Dr. Jacobs worked as a physician. They later moved to the nearby Beverly Hills neighborhood.

John attended Haw Creek Elementary School and A.C. Reynolds High School where he played football and engaged in a college preparatory course of study.

He attended Asheville-Biltmore College and served a four-year stint in the Coast Guard, In 1965, he married Elizabeth Cozette Price of Rutherford County, N.C. He worked at the U.S. Climatic Data Center in Asheville. The Jacobs retired to Florida.
