Collection Overview

This collection contains prints and slides documenting the renovation of the Governor's Mansion in Raleigh by the firm of F. Carter Williams, PA, Raleigh, North Carolina, 1975-1976. The project was completed in February, 1976. The addition to the collection includes 73 slides of architectural projects worked on by the firm during the 1950s-1980s. There are also two printed items on Athens Drive High School, Raleigh, North Carolina.

By original order of the architectural firm: prints first and then the slides, followed by the addition.

Biographical/Historical note

F. Carter Williams, Architects was a firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina and started in 1946. In addition to F. Carter Williams, partners included Macon S. Smith, Turner G. Williams, and Gene W. Jones.

    The collection was donated to the State Archives by Gene W. Jones, Architect, 2401 Rock Ridge Ct., Raleigh, NC 27612 on August 20, 1997. The collection was accessioned in 1997. The addition was donated to the North Carolina State Archives by Macon Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina on March 10, 2000. It was accessioned in May, 2000.
